A little Whitmire history
Once considered an American Mill Town, it has adopted a newly enhanced concept to bring back the peaceful spirit of small town America. A renaissance in its purest sense is about rebirth, an elevation of cultural pursuits, architecture, the arts, and learning. Using this as a guided principle we are projecting a plan that aids in the revitalization of the life and spirit of small town living.
Whitmire, located in Newberry County, runs along the Enoree River. As you enter, you are greeted with the welcoming sign indicating you have arrived in "The Pearl of the Piedmont." The quaint town is dubbed Pearl of the Piedmont because it’s quietly nestled in the middle of Sumter National Forest and the Tyger-Enoree River. With activities such as hunting, hiking, fishing, camping, horse-back riding and rafting makes this town the perfect escape for the outdoorsmen.
There’s also a free, public access, rifle range for leisure target shooting. Centrally located to the major cities of Greenville, Spartanburg, Columbia and Charlotte, makes this town considered to be a hidden jewel. Boasting with southern charm, friendly people, and the beautiful forest you are bound to be charmed by nature.
