Whitmire's Economic Development Board is a newly appointed board in 2013.
The board is comprised of citizen volun-teers appointed by The Mayor. The Board Members meet monthly at the Town Hall Annex to discuss ideas, promotions and other enhancements to foster more local business growth.
All meetings are open to the public and minutes are recorded. The Economic Development Board's sole function is to actively promote the town in a positive way to attract new business and boost town morale.
Members meet with community leaders and officials in the surrounding cities of Newberry, Union, Laurens and Chester counties to exchange ideas and develop partnership opportunities. A list of planned events and activities is posted on the Town Calendar.
